The Pickflickers usually end the night with this song, so here is our first clean recording of it to close out 2009.
This performance is quintessential Pickflickers, with four guitars and a bass all playing at once, as well as a few examples of our democratic process:
- When Richard and I started playing this over a decade ago, we tried singing individually. We each liked it, and chose to alternate the lyrics so we both could sing and play off of each other.
- There was a difference of opinion on the chords in the second half of the chorus should be C-B7-B7 or Am-Am-Am. Brad suggested we play both, so we play Am-C-B7.
- Everybody plays some flavor of a riff. Sometimes the intro is even longer because somebody wants to layer in yet another 007 soundtrack riff such as “Live and Let Die”.
This is the first “studio” track we have finished. The parts were recorded one or two tracks at a time and mixed in GarageBand.
Performers, in order of appearance:
- guitar #1, George
- bass (and GarageBand drums), George
- guitar #2, Wesley
- guitar #3, Richard
- vocals #1, Richard
- guitar #4, Brad
- vocals #2, George
